Teacher as Curator: Reconstructing the Teacher's Role in the Dynamic Construction of Foreign Language Digital Textbooks
Wu Xiaoyang
Foreign Languages Department, North China Electric Power University
Abstract:
Foreign language digital textbooks are often built as digitized print, revised only on a multi-year cycle. Companion work holds that their value is dynamic, enacted as learners meet the material, and that they are a learning service co-created by providers, teachers, and learners—yet nothing keeps content moving after release. This paper supplies that agent: dynamic construction makes the teacher a curator who continuously selects, sequences, annotates, and retires content. We define this role, its four reconstruction dimensions, the conditions making it workable, and a Japanese-language illustration.
